Outlining Text

Let's face it. Sometimes, text is just boring. So every once in a while you need to add a bit of a flare! And by flare, I mean outline! Outlining text is really easy, and it make pixel text look pretty cool, too. So it's just a useful thing to know!

First, we'll start by opening up a blank document, and filling it with whatever colour you want your outline to be, like this:

Then select your text tool, and make sure you create your text as a floating selection.

Now, type whatever you want, and if there's a moving dotted line around your text when you're done typing, you've doing alright so far. Now go up to the toolbar on the top, and go to Selections>Modify>Expand. A little pop up will come up and say you need to defloat your selection, so just click 'ok' on that.

Next, just set the width of your outline, and you're almost done!

Ok, so now, the only thing left to do is copy and paste your selection onto whatever you want! So press CTRL-C, then bring up the image you want your outlined text on, and press CTRL-E, the place your image where you want it! And there you have it, an outlined image! This looks super great on pixel text with an outline width of 1px, so try that out, too!
